Alpine Explorer
This tour has NO set itinerary because the condition of tracks change from day to day, some places that are awesome this year are inaccessible next year, fires and rains can scar this rugged and sometimes foreboding but always beautiful country.
Time can be spent doing walks as well as driving, we highly recommend it! Some of the plants that grow here are simply stunning if you stop and have a good look, photographers may well get lost in the moment… The warmer winter months bring a flourish of wildflowers akin to the Simpson desert but superbly adapted for the cold conditions.
The alps are dotted with “huts” used by the cattlemen in the early 1800’s as an important place to seek shelter most still stand today to provide shelter for weary travellers in emergencies. Craig's hut was seen in the Australian movie the man from snowy river and has been rebuilt three times due to fires. a visit to a hut will give you a reals sense of times gone by. While there you can hear Clancy of the overflow and the man from snowy river around the campfire, I'll bet you come away with a new appreciation of the area!
The Canning Stock Route
Join us on this extremely remote journey retracing the 1900 plus klms of the famous track; The Canning Stock Route which was originally one of the world most remote and challenging tracks cutting its way through areas littered with history. Explorers like Beadell, Forrest and Canning forged paths through this unforgiving but beautiful country. Canning and his men overcame unending hardships, to construct what was to become one of the world’s longest and loneliest cattle trails. To travel the canning stock route with us allows you will experience that spirit and better understand this special part of Australia.
No trailers or campers will be able to make this trip with us, its just too risky and they are banned on certain parts of the route. We depart from Alice springs stopping at Yulara and Kata Juta , we then make our way west to Wiluna via the Gunbarrel highway. We then spend the next 21 days on the Canning, returning to Alice via the Tanami desert over two days. This is without a doubt our toughest and most remote trip, testing the toughest and best equipment available. You can also join at Wiluna and leave at Halls creek if you like. Book early, as this trip fills very fast! Special bonus book now and receive 100 litres of fuel at well 23 free!!
Departs 1 may 2011 from Alice spings.
Cape York Trek
Immerse yourself in Queensland’s rugged North, retracing Australia’s pioneer history, wild rivers, majestic coastlines and immense cattle stations.
This is Australia’s most famous off road destination. Experience this remote Cape York wilderness area in the comfort of a well managed trip ensuring maximum comfort and safety. Cape York Peninsula has a complex and fascinating history which adds to the experience of travelling the dirt roads and tracks that carried our early explorers, prospectors and pastoralists who trudged these areas etching out an existence
Our trek northward on this Tour includes a visit to Undarra Lava Lodge where we explore the unique 190,000 year old lava tubes. We continue our journey along the coast to Mossman and Cook Town, crossing the Daintree River, into Cape Tribulation and on to Endeavour Falls.
As we journey on, we will visit the far northern areas of Lakefield, Cape Melville, Iron Range and Heathland National Parks, Moreton Station, Bramwell Station, Kalpower, Chilli Beach, Coen, and Portland Roads. We travel the Telegraph Line, originally constructed in 1884; we will cross Palm Creek, Alice Creek, north and south and the Dalhunty. We journey on to Captain Billy Landing, truly awesome with its white beaches, blue waters and coloured sand cliffs. Travelling onwards, we visit the spectacular crystal clear waterfalls of Twin Falls and Eliot Falls. We make our way to the most northern point of Australia, via Punsand Bay. Over the next few days we will spend time at the nearby townships of Seisia and Bamaga.
Our four-night stay at the ‘Top End’ is at a long sweeping beach fringed by pristine bush land. Here you will have the opportunity to visit the very famous and fascinating areas of Thursday and Horn Islands. While in Seisia, you will also have the opportunity to take a chartered fishing tour or just go walking along the ocean’s shoreline.
The adventure continues via Vrilya Point and then onto the largest town in the Cape, Weipa, for a two-night stopover. A visit to these parts would not be justified without taking in a little ‘crabbing’ or deep sea fishing. A tour of the largest Bauxite Mining Operation in the world is also not to be missed.
On our homeward leg, we pass through the Archer River and Hann River regions. Our camp for the next two nights provides an excellent example of some of the world’s great archaeological treasures. Here the sandstone escarpments of Quinkan country contain thousands of rock art sites. The final leg of our journey takes us over roads hand carved in the 1880’s to provide access to the Cobb & Co coaches that serviced the bustling gold fields. We visit the former mining townships of Maytown and Mt Mulligan, the sight of whose relics will cast your mind back a century.
The last night of the tour will be at the old Gold Mine at Tryconnell. From here we will then make our way to Mareeba and the end to our tour.

Simpson Desert / Flinders Ranges Trek
Experience a desert landscape of ochre sand dunes, natural springs and desert wildflowers, teaming with life in hidden places.
This is an adventure of a lifetime, but an experience that should not be undertaken alone. Many earlier pioneers perished in and close to this wilderness. It was only 1936 when the first European Ted Colson, a renowned bushman and the late uncle of Troy Dan, crossed the complete Desert. With the modern day 4WD vehicle and its ability to traverse the many sand dunes with ease, we are able to safely cross in much less time than it took Ted Colson.
This Tour departs from Charleville, centred in the middle of mulga country and ‘Hub of the South West’. We travel to Windorah and on to Birdsville, located in the largest shire in Queensland and in which are located 14 cattle stations and two National Parks. Birdsville is our first night’s stopover - from here the real adventure begins.
We travel across the famous Simpson Desert crossing hundreds of sand dunes, crossing the entire Desert. We will experience the many challenges of the ‘The Simpson’ with its expansive saltpans and valleys as we move east to west. Add the challenge of driving ‘Big Red’, the biggest of the sand hills, for those who choose to challenge their vehicle and driving skills.
During our journey we will visit the three corners, Poeppel, Cameron and Haddons, where three Australian States meet. We will visit an outback town with the population of 1...! We will drive the French Line, and the Rig Road, a clay-topped access route that was developed along several different survey lines. We will travel the WAA Line and visit the town of Oodnadatta, which lies in the heart of the desert, 112 metres above sea level, and learn the history of the Old Ghan Railway line.
We will travel onto the Painted Desert via Oodnadatta (an aboriginal word for ‘blossom of the mulga’). Here the spectacular coloured hills of the desert were created as sediments laid down by the ancient inland sea eroded away. This erosion, combined with the leaching of minerals out of the soil, has created striking colour combinations that change throughout the day.
We will spend a rest day at Coober Pedy, venture onto William Creek for an optional light aircraft flight over Lake Eyre and Painted Desert.
We will travel onto Roxbury Downs and onto Port Augusta. Here we have a rest day to take in some sightseeing and/or fishing in this magnificent area or maybe just get your breath back after our previous few days of travel.
We will begin our return journey through the beautiful Flinders Ranges. So it’s north from here to Wilpena Pound and then onto Arkaroola, set high up in the Gammon Ranges, onto the Strzelecki Track.
On our return we travel to the town of Innamincka, and visit the famous ‘Dig Tree’, site of the forward base of the Burke & Wills expedition. We will conclude our tour in South-Western Queensland near the town of Cunnamulla, via Cameron Corner where the borders of three States meet.

Kimberleys Trek
Experience Australia’s last great wilderness areas, its amazing landscapes, gorges and ancient beauty.
The Kimberley region of Western Australia is one of the world’s last great wilderness areas. It has one of the fastest population growth rates in Australia, yet has fewer people per square kilometre than almost any other place on earth. Situated in the far north west of WA, the Kimberley is an ancient landform of rugged ranges with deep, spectacular gorges and pristine sandy beaches that fringe the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. Mighty river systems produce thundering waterfalls during the wet season and pockets of lush rainforest can be found throughout the region.
"The Kimberley is a vast and pristine area and to explore it is an adventure you will never forget, and cherish forever" - Kimberley Tourism Association. This is one of Australia’s most remote 4WD destinations and also one of the most beautiful. Join us on this memorable trek exploring outback Queensland, Central Australia and part of the Gulf via the Plenty Highway, Tanami Desert and The Savannah Way - taking us to The Wild Kimberley, in north western Australia and Gulf of Carpentaria, in Northern Australia.
This Tour ventures across our vast continent visiting regions isolated by distance travelling over rich alluvial plains and sandstone ranges, through spectacular gorges and surreal landscapes - we will visit the home of the ‘Camp Oven’; a superbly preserved mining ghost town; see a meteorite site and the second largest crater of its kind in the world; explore the world’s richest gemstone areas; see a sub-vertical quartz vein believed to be the largest single fault of its type. We visit pristine white sandy beaches, some of the most stunning in the world - why not join us!
This Tour will take you through the ’Centre of Australia’ as you trek North West, discovering the towns of Halls Creek, the oasis of the Kimberley region and situated on the edge of the Great Sandy Desert and the famous Bungle Bungle Range with it’s amazing ‘bee-hive’ shaped sandstone domes marked with bands of black lichen. We travel onto Fitzroy Crossing, and Geikie Gorge to the north east; Broome and the Dampier Peninsula; Cape Leveque and the Buccaneer Archipelago; onto the Gibb River Road and Tunnel Creek and the Napier Range; Windjana, Adcock, Bell Creek and Manning Gorges, Mitchell Falls and the Mitchell Plateau; Kalumburu, El Questro, Kununurra, Lake Argyle and Wyndham - experience the uniqueness and hospitality of these areas with us - all integral parts to the Kimberley landscape and never to be forgotten.
During our stay in the Kimberley we invite you to take the opportunity to enhance your visit - take a helicopter flight over the Mitchell Plateau and Falls, fly out over the Buccaneer Archipelago to see the horizontal waterfall and Cape Leveque. Maybe take a river cruise over Lake Argyle or a flight over the Lake and the infamous Bungle Bungles. Or just go fishing, crabbing or both!
Our homeward journey compliments our time spent in the Kimberley Region and provides us with an excellent opportunity to see some of the wonderful landscapes of the Gulf Country, along the Savannah Way.
Discover with us the cultural diversity of the Kimberley Region and enjoy the opportunity of traveling through the gulf Country on our return journey. Two tours in one "an adventure of a lifetime."
